Teaching and learning of the area and perimeter of regular polygons: a didactic proposal and evaluation in primary education

Abstract

Te objective of this work is to contribute to the teaching-learning and evaluation processes on the area and perimeter of regular polygons; For this, a methodological proposal was designed to support the strengthening of educational quality in this type of study. Te diagnosis obtained allowed the design of a teaching-learning and evaluation proposal, together with a variety of strategies. Which contains activities designed to improve the problems presented, also shows several exercises and problems with their respective methodological suggestions. Tis allows to develop two aspects that are absent in the classrooms at present, in spite of being an aspect to develop in the child: the capacity of reasoning and the creativity. Te results allowed to identify the initial conceptions of the students in front of the topics of area and perimeter in fat fgures and their difculties for the interpretation of their environment from the Geometry. In addition, aspects related to the socio-critical pedagogical model proper to the context of the Cristo Redentor School in which the research work was
carried out are addressed.
